If you haven’t gathered by now I love the beach. Some may think I’m a little obsessed with it. But really all it is, is this is my spot. It is where I feel closest to my creator. I feel free! I feel rejuvenated! I feel the calmness in my soul and healing in my body when I’m there at the shore. Today I want to encourage you to find that soul lifting place in nature for yourself. It has to be your place; it can’t be anyone else’s. For those whose soul yearning place is the beach you already know the wonderful healing opportunities found on its shores. Perhaps for some, the beach is not your magical spot, but it is my hope in reading this you will be drawn closer to the healing powers found in and around one of the most magnificent and beautiful serene spots on earth.

Ok! I have to stop here because it is important to me to always be true to my understanding and my own belief as to who I think my healer is. While I do know and believe the earth and its surroundings have the resources to heal the whole body I think the power does not per se come from the earth’s own ability to create such a phenomenon, but instead, the resources are placed here by the creator of the universe. It is here for us all to use freely. Earlier on in our health recovery journey, my heart spoke to me on many occasions thinking, but God, the all knowing God had to know this sickness could and would occur, so surely such a loving God has already gone before us and set into place everything we would need to heal our bodies, both physically and emotionally.

Medicine to my Soul:

Nature is one of those places that were provided to each person who would take the time to lavish in the peace, healing, and beauty it has to offer. It was established way before doctors come along with all of their theories, fancy machines, and cocktails of medications. I believe there is a time and place for doctors and medicine, but I also know and believe the Lord in heaven is still in the healing and restoration business today. And he has already provided us an earthly Farmacy filled with everything our body needs to heal our physical, emotional and mental ailments. Hence, His potions consist of many things found in nature, such as the sand, the sea, the air we breathe and the energy found in the healing power of my soul being present with him at the sea –in nature. Stress is one of the top culprits that have the largest negative impact on one’s life. Spiritual things happen surrounded by water, such as the one found in one profound scripture in Genesis 1:2, ESV. It reminds me of life in general and how the darkness of despair and pain can overtake our life in its attempt to redefine our true calling, our true purpose. “The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters” To me, this scripture could speak of the content of depression. When one is in the deepness of depression it is as if you and your life are void of love, peace, and self-assurance. Darkness overtakes you like you’ve never experienced before, it can engulf your thoughts and take possession of your soul. It comes with a black veil covering your face, hindering your ability to see in its attempt to hide the light of HOPE from your soul.

Don’t you think this must have been what it could’ve been like if we were on the earth before the Lord hovered over the darkness? The job of darkness is to attempt to confuse your spirit to the truth of the freedom the Lords salvation promises you regarding healing and restoration of your spirit, soul, and body. It robs your body of its innate knowledge that the possibility of being healed and made whole is, in fact, possible. I believe in healing whether it comes spontaneously or when we provide the body with what it actually needs to thrive and heal, such as nature, whole foods, fresh water, and the SunShine. In this scripture, the Lord was there hovering over the deepest parts of the ocean. His presence is everywhere you need it to be, most certainly through the deepest, darkest time of our life. Being at the shore and being physically grounded to the earth and its energy will allow you to drink of the purity of the physical and mental/emotional medicine as your life and soul become one in its presence. You will feel the love, have a more clear vision of your future and your path to healing will be found nestled in the inner chambers of your heart as you meditate in the stillness and beauty of the shore ~ Soul Life™ I love these two scriptures. “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters” (Is 55:1,ESV). “Listen to me in silence, O coastlands; let the peoples renew their strength…” (Is 41:1). Come thirsty, but leave with a renewed strength… with peace of mind knowing that healing is possible for you.

Earthing at the Beach:

The beach is a place to transition my thoughts and not only my external atmosphere but my internal atmosphere as well. Tranquility awaits us on the shores. The sand is one of the resources that hold incredible healing properties. Just walking on it with our bare feet the energy can be felt penetrating up through our very being. The energy is exuberating as our skin makes contact with the coolness of the minerals found within the tiny granular and when the sand and sea come together rushing under and over my feet in its attempt to caress the muscles. It’s better than any foot massage treatment. It’s a wonderful earthing experience. Earthing is a pretty new trend as we know it today, but in reality, earthing has been around ever since humans have been on earth. I’m pretty certain Adam and Eve were running around in the garden and along their seashore earthing away in their bare feet. The Lord placed them there with no clothes and no shoes on their feet for good reasons. He intended them to stay connected to him in this way. Adam himself was made from dirt. “The Lord God formed the man from the soil of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7, NET). Earthing was in the original blueprint in how humans are to live free from anything that disconnects them from the power of the earth’s elements and the presence of their God. Earthing is when the body is in direct contact with the ground. Take your shoes off and experience the dirt, the grass, and the sand. Find your place in nature to de-stress. The wholeness your spirit, soul, and body seeks is found in the presence of God in this place.

The earth maintains a negative electrical potential, and when our body has direct contact with its natural environment the experience naturally helps the body come into balance. One research article I located concluded “highly significant electroencephalograms (EEG), electromyograms (EMG), and blood volume pulse (BVP) results demonstrated earthing can restore natural electrical potential of the earth to the human body. This rapidly affected the human electrophysiological and physiological parameters. The results suggested a reduction in overall stress levels, tension and autonomic balance in the organism upon earthing. This second study showed changes in cortisol profiles associated with decreases in symptoms, including sleep dysfunction, pain, and stress. Amazingly, it appears that earthing reduces the noise coupled into the body from various sources.” The book Earthing quotes David Wolfe, health advocate, speaker, and author as saying, ““over his last fifteen years of research on nutrition and lifestyle the absolute most dangerous invention made is the shoe.” He describes the shoe as being the most destructive culprit of inflammation and autoimmune diseases in our lives because it separates us from the healing energy of the Earth.””

NOTE: The autonomic nervous system (ANS) has two major branches: the sympathetic system and the parasympathetic system. Its primary job is to keep the two in optimal balance. The sympathetic is associated with energy mobilization and has to do with the fight and flight response. It can decrease motility of the large intestines and accelerate heart rate; among other functions. Its job is to protect the body from injury. On the other hand, the parasympathetic system job is basically opposite of the sympathetic system. The parasympathetic helps to activate the gastrointestinal system to enhance the digestion and motility of nutrients; it decreases blood pressure and slows the heart rate. Both systems control many of the vital functions of the body, such as digestion cardiovascular, hormonal, body temperature, energy balance and even weight regulation and many other functions.

Nature Nurtures!

I love my flip flops – I can throw them off of my feet in a split second and indulge in an earthing experience right there on the spot. This reminds me of a recent encounter I had when I visited a small organic garden for a meeting. As we were enjoying our meeting under the moringa oleifera a man stopped by who works with bees. He was a free-spirited fella with this huge smile on his face. I looked down and sure enough, he was barefooted. I looked back up at him and said, “Awesome! You’re earthing!!! He was committed to enjoying his environment. I love the topic of earthing and I believe finding your soul spot is even more important today than it has ever been in history. Earthing offers us a connection to our soul spot in a way like no other. The ever evolving research on electromagnetic exposures and its impact on our body’s entire system are imperative that we find those pristine spots in nature to connect to. The beach is one of those places our body can rejuvenate and clear itself of environmental toxic exposures. Go there, go to the ocean, go to your favorite place in nature with a mindset to be at peace, to pray and meditate and connect with the creator of the universe. Go; wash your cares away in the sea. Experience the release of toxic chemicals as your body sweats under the SunShine. Engage in the energy of the sand. Connect to something larger than yourself and your problems. Experience the restoration earthing has to offer your spirit, soul, and body.

The findings in the study above regarding earthing matches up to my personal experiences while walking in the sand. While walking on the shore I tend to go barefooted, because I really want to experience all of the benefits of this loving and giving environment. It truly does calm my soul, heals my body and rejuvenates my spirit. It brings me into balance, by lowering my heart rate, my heart beats, my breath, and it helps me to relax, release, refocus, rebalance, restore and renew. On those days I get to go to the beach I always have a good-night sleep. Perhaps, because I am actually working my body functions to become more aware, more alive, and when I’m not basking in the sunshine at the water’s edge or sitting in a relaxed position in the sand I’m being more productive in pushing my body beyond the resting state. I noticed it is more difficult to walk in the sand, therefore there is more resistance and definitely more endurance is needed physically. I also noticed I tend to be in the moment mentally and emotionally too. Thinking this helps me to build upon my cognitive ability to clear myself of the negative external and internal environment around me and welcome the positiveness of the elements that surround me. It grounds me in the present atmosphere allowing me to own my own mood. It provides me a space to utilize the power of my body’s “delicate bioelectrical circuitry against static electrical charges and interference…It refills and recharges your body with something you never knew you were missing…or needed…Exposure to sunlight produces vitamin D, but exposure to the ground provides an electrical “nutrient” in the form of electrons. Think of these electrons as vitamin G –G for ground. And just like vitamin D is needed for good health so is vitamin G.”ii Go to the beach and couple some vitamin D, with some vitamin G and while you’re there lavish yourself with some vitamin SEA and enjoy the incredible natural resources of the ocean and sand our body and brain yearns for.

The study behind epigenetics, states diseases can be reversed by making beneficial and positive changes that include nutrition, lifestyle factors and eliminating environmental toxins. Earthing offers a way to do all three; vitamin G as an electron nutrient, spiritual connection through lifestyle factors by allowing you to lay down your troubles and the release of toxic environmental chemicals in the body.
The most important take home is found in this quote by HIPPOCRATES “Illness’ do not come upon us out of the blue. They are developed from small daily sins against Nature. When enough sins have accumulated, illness will suddenly appear.”ii

Find your magical spot, your soul life™ spot, find your ocean, your mountain, your atmosphere –Find your NATURE!!!
